Our original surgery was founded by Dr Jamie back in 1898. We moved to our present purpose built premises in December 2000.
The practice has a reputation for providing a high standard of personal medical care. We believe patients deserve a friendly and accessible service.
All our medical records are computerised, which makes them clearer. We find this improves our consultations in all sorts of ways; it enables us to access the most up-to-date information, and also provides a means of sharing this with you to help you understand your problem more clearly.
The practice computer is linked to the Health Authority, local hospitals and laboratories. In 1999 we were appointed as one of only 165 Beacon Practices in the country for innovations in information technology. However, we still like to provide traditional family medicine, and we try to keep the technological bits in the background.
We are a Training Practice for Doctors and Medical students. This helps us keep up-to-date and it means the practice has to be inspected regularly. Video recording, or observation of occasional consultations is an important part of a doctor’s training nowadays. Some patients enjoy the experience of helping with this process, understandably others do not, we will always ask for your consent beforehand and alternative arrangements can be made if you do not wish to take part.
